How to Apply to the Atelier d'Arts Certification program in Brussels?

  1. Application Submission: Begin the application process by submitting your online application here.

  2. Portfolio Review: Admission to The Atelier d'Art is based on a review of 8 images of your recent drawings and/or paintings. The portfolio should be a multi-page PDF document showcasing photos of your artwork with brief descriptions of each piece. Make sure your portfolio is well-presented, as it serves as a showcase of your work and gives us an insight into your ability to market yourself as an artist. Once your portfolio is ready, upload it here by completing the application form. We assess:

    • Your interest in figurative realism

    • Efforts to draw and paint from life

    • Whether you have studied the old masters

    • Your potential for success in our program

    • We recommend including examples done in materials we use, such as charcoal, pencil, or oil

  3. These suggestions are not to imply you must be working at an advanced level, but to show your interest in realistic and figurative work.

  4. Request for Advanced Standing: You may request advanced standing upon entry if you have:

    • Prior training at a similar academy or atelier

    • Completed drawing exercises akin to those in the Atelier d'Arts Drawing curriculum

  5. Encouragement for All Applicants: Some applicants worry their work isn’t as advanced as the examples on our website. Our mission is to train you to achieve those skills, and even surpass them. We offer a curriculum, teaching method, and studio environment grounded in the principles of realistic tradition, within a stimulating intellectual community fostered by students and teachers.

  6. Limited Admission: Due to limited places, entry to our program is competitive. The academic year begins in the Fall. You may indicate if you wish to keep your application active for consideration for the Winter or Spring term. If not immediately accepted, your application will be placed on a waitlist, and reviewed if a place becomes available during the year.

  7. Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must have a high school/secondary school diploma and a good level of English (speaking and comprehension). You may be called for a short video interview.
